Hearts

Such fragile parts of us and yet... allow them to shatter burn freeze break and even stop

What are hearts if they are so often broken?

Do we understand love?

What truth lies in an emotional demise?

They break your heart so that you may embrace the approaching storm

A broken world claws at our insides, our torn hearts - theres is no happiness but a colorless void of empty emotion

Love is but a word - no substance, a condolence to our fear of the loneliness that binds us to an everlasting dark

And to think, I believed you understood when you whispered "love" in my ear...

What does it feel like, to harbor a shattered heart?

There are still shards of a long-gone fire, knowing that she will never pick them up

Fallen, to find peace in rest - but... where are my wings?

No longer the bleak rays of a dying sun to warm that which cannot survive

So here I wait, for a rain that can never fall

In silence, to nurse our open wounds - for how am I to move on?

Heartbroken, to realize the BETRAYAL in our eyes

You love without knowing trust, blind to deceit
